Obedience
Joseph was a simple, honest, hard-working and God-fearing man. When the angel appeared to him in a dream and told him to marry Mary, because the child that she was carrying was from the Holy Spirit, Joseph obeyed the angel and took Mary as his wife. Joseph also showed his obedience to God when he listened to the angel and took his family to Egypt. His obedience is reflected clearly in the scripture below.
THE FLIGHT INTO EGYPT [Matthew 2:12-15]
And having been warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they left for their own country by another road.
Now after they had left, an angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream and said, “Get up, take the child and his mother, and flee to Egypt, and remain there until I tell you; for Herod is about to search for the child, to destroy him.” Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfil what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet, “Out of Egypt I have called my son.”
HOW CAN WE SHOW OUR OBEDIENCE TO GOD? We can show our obedience to God by:
- reflecting on his word
- having a personal and intimate relationship with him and living by his word
- loving him and keeping his commandments.
In Matthew 22:36-40 God’s commandments are repeated which says, "Teacher, which commandment is the most important?" Jesus said, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and soul, and with all of your mind.' This is the first and most important commandment. But the second is like it: 'Love your neighbour as you love yourself.” All of Moses’ Teachings and the Law of the Prophets depend on these two commandments."
Prayer: Lord, create in me a humble heart and take away all my foolish pride and anger. Please help me to always keep your commandments. Lord, help me to keep on believing in you even when my burdens become hard to bear. Amen

A Tapestry of Encouraging Words from His Book
Deuteronomy 31:6
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Joshua 1:9
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."
Psalm 27:14 Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Isaiah 43:1 But now, this is what the LORD says— he who created you, O Jacob, he who formed you, O Israel: "Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
Ezra 10:4 Rise up; this matter is in your hands. We will support you, so take courage and do it.
Isaiah 35:4
... say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you."
... say to those with fearful hearts, "Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you."
Lord, these are not my words. Let your words of encouragement be a balm to others in their time of strife. Amen
Be Blessed,
Cheryl

Almighty God Your Love Never Changes
"The Lord says, "I have loved you with an everlasting Love."
"Come to Me..."
Jeremiah 31:3 / Matthew 11:28 NIV
Listening to the lyrics of the song,"El Shadai" just inspires me to learn more about God's word and no matter how many times I fail Him, I know that He will love me unconditionally. His love for me will never change.
El Shaddai

El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
El-Elyon na Adonia,
Age to age You're still the same,
By the power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
Erkamka na Adonai,
We will praise and lift You high,
El Shaddai.
El-Elyon na Adonia,
Age to age You're still the same,
By the power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
Erkamka na Adonai,
We will praise and lift You high,
El Shaddai.
Through your love and through the ram,
You saved the son of Abraham;
Through the power of your hand,
Turned the sea into dry land.
To the outcast on her knees,
You were the God who really sees,
And by Your might,
You set Your children free.
You saved the son of Abraham;
Through the power of your hand,
Turned the sea into dry land.
To the outcast on her knees,
You were the God who really sees,
And by Your might,
You set Your children free.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
El-Elyon na Adonia,
Age to age You're still the same,

Age to age You're still the same,
By the power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
Erkamka na Adonai,
We will praise and lift You high,
El Shaddai.
Through the years You've made it clear,
That the time of Christ was near,
Though the people couldn't see
What Messiah ought to be.
Though Your Word contained the plan,
They just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
Through the frailty of Your Son.
That the time of Christ was near,
Though the people couldn't see
What Messiah ought to be.
Though Your Word contained the plan,
They just could not understand
Your most awesome work was done
Through the frailty of Your Son.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,
El-Elyon na Adonai,
Age to age You're still the same,
By the power of the name.
El Shaddai, El Shaddai,

God, The Master Physician
“But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds; declares the Lord,” Jeremiah 30:17
After a 4th Caesarian section, my youngest sister, Roche gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. This was really another miracle from God! I have never heard of anyone having four C-sections in my life! I was just so amazed at God’s power and his mercy. Everything seemed to be going well, until my sister’s wound turned septic. Suddenly, her health just nose-dived. Roche developed kidney problems and other niggles. Doctors warned that the kidney problems were related to the last C-section. After being under observation for a few days, Roche ignored the doctor’s orders and discharged herself from hospital. Two days later, she was found unconscious and had to be rushed to hospital. While in the ICU, she suffered bouts of seizures. And to make matters worse, her blood pressure skyrocketed and her sugar levels went through the roof. Family members put their differences aside and rallied around my baby sister. Just looking at my sister’s lifeless form as she lay there in ICU with all those pipes and the ticking of those machines made me realize how fragile and precious life is. And that we are not in charge of our destiny. There is only one person in charge of our lives. And that person is, God. For a split second, my mind went into over-drive. Was God calling my baby sister home? Why her? She’s too young to die! I cried and cried and begged God not to take her young life from us. But, in my heart I knew that it was not up to me. Her life was in God’s very capable hands. He is the ultimate healer. My husband and I prayed at her bedside and asked God to please be merciful and to come restore her health. On day 2 when Roche opened her eyes, she couldn’t really focus on anything. Her speech was slurry and she was still disorientated. She couldn’t eat a thing. They had to resort to feeding her intravenously. But, she craved for water and juice to drink. She was forever thirsty. This left the doctors dumbfounded. They put her through a battery of tests and other blood work. But, no result was forthcoming. The days that came and past were filled with questions, hospital visits and prayers from family and friends. Finally, on the 5th day there were signs of improvement. Her speech was less slurry. After another set of scans, it was discovered that she was a borderline diabetic and an epileptic. Although the outcome was not what we had expected, we were grateful to God that He delivered on his promise of healing Roche and bringing her back to us from the brink of death.
Prayer:
Lord, thank you for listening to our cries for help. Thank you for being the Master Physician. Thank you for being Our Father in our time of need. Thank you for bringing our family together, even if it was in a time of anguish. Amen.

Thy Word
THY WORD BY AMY GRANT AND MICHAEL W SMITH
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
When I feel afraid,
And think I’ve lost my way.
Still, you’re there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.
And think I’ve lost my way.
Still, you’re there right beside me.
Nothing will I fear
As long as you are near;
Please be near me to the end.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
And a light unto my path.
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
And a light unto my path.
I will not forget
Your love for me and yet,
My heart forever is wandering.
Jesus be my guide,
And hold me to your side,
And I will love you to the end.

Count It All Joy
The words of this song made me take a look at myself more clearly. Yes, I know that my life is a gift from God and that I should live my life as if it is my last day here on earth, but I often take things for granted. I hope words of this song hits home to you as it did me.
Count It All Joy by BeBe & CeCe Winans
It's hard to understand sometimes
Is there a master plan
How do I make sense of everything I'm going through
But maybe it's not ours to know
So we have to learn to let things go
And simply try to make the most
Of every day and have the faith
That somehow we will find our way
Chorus 1
So count it all joy, all that you're going through
Even when you're feeling down
Count it all joy, each moments a gift to you
So turn it all around
And even in the darkest night
If you look hard enough
There's a trace of sunlight waiting there
Yes waiting there for you
Been searching everywhere to find
That rainbow in the air
Whenever I came close it just seemed to disappear
I had to change my point of view
Start looking at myself
I can't believe I never knew
Everything that I need
Was right here yes inside of me
Chorus 1
Bridge
I don't have to be afraid
From today I have the faith
That somehow I will find my way
Chorus 2
So count it all joy, all that I'm going through
Even when I'm feeling down
Count it all joy, each moments a gift to you
So turn it all around
And even in the darkest night
If I look straight ahead
There's a trace of sunlight waiting there
Yes waiting there for me and you
Is there a master plan
How do I make sense of everything I'm going through
But maybe it's not ours to know
So we have to learn to let things go
And simply try to make the most
Of every day and have the faith
That somehow we will find our way

Do what he tells you
I'd like to share with you the words that Mary uttered to the servants at the wedding of Cana in Gallilee. "Do what he tells you."
The servants had open minds and willing spirits to obey Jesus' command. That is why they did exactly what he told them to do when the wedding party ran out of wine. They filled six stone water jars with water to the brim. And when Jesus told them to pour and take it to the person in charge, they did exactly that. When the person in charge tasted the water, it had changed into wine. This is when the first miracle was performed.
Lord, help me to willingly obey your command and let me be the person you want me to be. Let the miracle at Cana be ever present in our lives.
God's Blessings,
Cheryl

Thank You
Psalms 92:1 It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High:
Thank you Lord
For Loving Me
Just the way I am
How appropriate is His Word for me tonight... Here I am just chilling!
And cuddling up next to me is my 11 yr old daughter, Nicola. And I'm thinking... Thinking about how blessed and grateful I am to be able to share God's Word with her. How thankful I am for small mercies. And when we close His Book, she smiles and then kisses me good night. I gaze at her as she strolls out of the room. I smile to myself... How quickly she's grown. My/ Our little angel. How innocent she looks in her pink and blue jammies. Soon she'll grow up into a wonderful young lady... And later she'll leave the nest! I hope the years never roll by so soon though. I lay there in bed and listen to the howling of the wind. And I think to myself... How thankful I am that she [Nicola] knows You, Lord. How grateful I am to be loved by:
The Father
My Family
My Friends
And I say a silent prayer. Lord, I thank You for being my:
Anchor
Shepherd
Father
Forever friend
Confidant
Prince of Peace
And then I close my eyes and kiss the world a sweet night.
Blessings to all,

New Year's Resolutions

New Year is here again.
It’s another year.
It’s a brand new start for all of us.
I wonder. Do you have any pledges for 2010?
Perhaps you have a New Year’s resolution?
I’m afraid I don’t have any! I haven’t really thought about anything for this year. Sorry! I’m just not good at following through with certain things.
Last year, I made a promise [to myself] to diet and exercise so that I could be in ‘tip-top’ shape. I desperately wanted to get into my skinny jeans then.
In the beginning, everything went ‘hunky dory’. I cut down on my carbs and increased my protein intake. I even walked for 10 km a day. It was smooth sailing for about one or two months. But as soon as I got an invitation to eat out, I went back to my old tricks. Chocolates, tangy fried chips and decadent chocolate cake became part of my late night snack binges again.
I just don’t know! Maybe, I’m just a sucker for good treats. Enough of that!
So, now I stare at the ceiling and tell myself that this year’s going to be different. I am not going to make any promises to anyone this time.
This year I will not follow my head.
I’m going to try and be like the three wise men.
Like the wise men were led by the Star to the One who was born to be Our King, I will follow the Spirit wherever it leads me. I just don’t want the scripture to roll down my lips and disappear into thin air. I want it to make a resting place in my heart:
Matthew 2
The visit of the Magi [three wisemen]
1After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem 2and asked, "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him." [NIV]
I’m going to strive to make Jesus Christ my Star!
May the Blessings of Christ be with you during this coming New Year.

I am so blessed to be your child
How many times have I failed You, Lord?
Too many times for me to keep score.
How many roads have I travelled without You?
Enough for me to knock on Your door!
Too many times for me to keep score.
How many roads have I travelled without You?
Enough for me to knock on Your door!

Daily Verse
The LORD Is My Shepherd
23The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. A time to be giving
Let's cut to the chase. This is what I do every festive season. Every year when Christmas comes along, I tend to concentrate on the commercial meaning of Christmas. I fall over my feet just to get to the supermarket for a ham, a turkey and what not. And then on the day of Christmas Eve, I slip on my takkies to race to the shopping mall just to track down that last elusive present in the store. For who? A family member or friend? So quickly, I forget those who are less fortunate than myself. So quickly, I forget the lonely old lady walking along the busy street. So quickly, I forget the little boy rummaging through the dirt bin for some scraps to still his hunger. So quickly, I forget why Jesus Christ was born. So quickly, I forget to give Jesus a gift from ME!
Why is this so? Because I'm too wrapped up in MY-SELF. I'm more worried about:
washing the dishes
taking out the trash
doing the laundry
preparing the next meal
money
rejection
anger
pain
And the list can go on and on... But if I want the blessings of Christmas to be a true beacon in my life, I must forget about MY-SELF. The only way I will be able to do this, is by packing away all my emotional baggage into a suitcase and locking it away – just this once!
As I take a sip of my coffee, I pray that God will give me the grace to just open my heart and my mind to those who are less fortunate than myself. I ask HIM to allow me to stop and think about the real meaning of Christmas. I ask that I may not forget the actual reason why Jesus was born on Christmas Day. This special child was born to save us all. He was born to bring us Peace, Joy, Love and Hope. This precious gift was given to us, to share it with the world! Not to keep it to ourselves.
So, let us go out on a limb to Love more...
Let us give of ourselves to others unconditionally...
Let us give God a special gift from us to Him ...
For we know that in the town of David a Saviour will be born to us and HE is Christ the Lord. And we will be filled with joy and gladness and the world will rejoice at his birth.
Why? Because He is the Saviour of the World.
Let us rejoice and be glad,
Cheryl
Why is this so? Because I'm too wrapped up in MY-SELF. I'm more worried about:
washing the dishes
taking out the trash
doing the laundry
preparing the next meal
money
rejection
anger
pain
